Frequently
Asked Questions
1.
Are the browbands discipline appropriate? - Dressage
riders and show jumpers are having great fun with our browbands.
They provide riders with the opportunity to express some
personal style in an otherwise restricted show environment.
Open class and amateur dressage riders alike have been showing
with POH browbands for over seven years now. Dressage Riders
have ridden with POH browbands in national championships,
the Pan Am Games, World Cup competitions and the Olympics.

Games in 2006.
2.
Do POH products hold up? - It is always a challenge
when animals and delicate jewelry come together. We have
designed our products with this challenge in mind. Each
section of jewelry (or each stone/bead) is hand stitched
into the leather using heavy duty bridle thread. We overlay
the stitching with a second piece of leather for additional
protection. Under normal use, our products hold up as well
as any other high quality well made product. Since we do
use actual jewelry, however, we suggest that our customers
refrain from abusing or over bending our products. Jewelry
(metal) by it's nature has only so much give, although we
build in as much give as we can. With regard to the dog
collars, please take the animal's activity level
into consideration. If your dog plays rough with other dogs
during daily visits to the dog park, we suggest a buckle
set collar only (with no beads or jewelry). If, on the other
hand, he/she will wear the POH collar only on special occasions
or your pet prefers a gentle or less active lifestyle, then
the beaded or jeweled collars will be appropriate.
3.
Do you guarantee your work? - It is extremely important
to us that our customers are satisfied with their purchases.
We will be happy to repair your purchase free of charge
in the unlikely event of its failure under normal use. If
the product has been clearly abused, we will charge a small
fee for repairs.
4.
Does my local tack shop carry POH products? - Many
local tack shops have expressed an interest in carrying
the POH line. With several exceptions, however, we have
declined these requests. POH products are assembled domestically
by expert craftspersons using high quality materials, sterling
silver jewelry or genuine stone. As such, our products are
relatively expensive to produce. The price points are equivalent
to what other companies may charge at wholesale. We have
seen the proliferation of inexpensive imitations retailing
for between $150-$350 (for beaded browbands or pewter --
not sterling silver). We have decided to keep our products
reasonably priced by distributing directly via the internet
and at horse shows. In most instances, it would be difficult
to match our price point for the jewelry alone (without
the leather) in the retail environment. Our products are
of the highest quality and are an extraordinary value. We
build our browbands around the jewelry. Others buy premade
browbands, stitch beading onto the leather and glue a thin
piece of leather on the back to hide the stitching. All
POH browbands are stitched in the USA.
5.
Which are the most popular designs? Our research
shows that we have manufactured nearly equal numbers of
each style. Our customers base their decisions on everything
from the sex and color of the animal to the occasion for
which the piece is being purchased. Taste and style are
key considerations as well. We will be happy to guide you
through the decision-making process. If for any reason you
feel you have made the wrong decision, you may return the
product to us for a full refund (as long as it is in new
and unused condition and in its original packaging).
6.
Are all available designs exhibited on the web site?
- For the most part, yes. From time to time, we may find
an interesting stone or a piece of jewelry that is available
in a limited quantity. Under these circumstances, we may
produce a one-of-a-kind piece. Since we are unable to fill
multiple orders for these designs, they never make it to
the website. We are happy to provide our customers with
digital photos (via e-mail) of the "one-of-a-kind"
pieces in stock at the time of inquiry. If you are looking
for something you do not see on the site, please let us
know. We may either have or be able to design just what
you're looking for. Simply forward inquiries to peopleonhorses@aol.com
and we'll be happy to work with you to see what we can come
up with.
7.
Do your products fit "difficult to fit" animals?
- Because we produce all of our products locally, we are
able to design any product in the length and width of your
choosing. We pride ourselves on our ability to produce custom
products at "off-the-shelf" prices. There's no
need to wait three months for a 17" browband anymore.
8.
How long after my order will it take to receive my item?
If we have the item in stock, we will ship it either the
day of the order (if it is not a Sunday and we receive the
order early enough) or the next business day. Delivery time
will depend upon the delivery method of your choosing. Otherwise,
our goal is to produce and ship your item within two weeks
of your order.
9.
Your browbands are pretty, but I'm looking for something
a little more subtle. Most of the product photos on
the website are close-ups, thus enabling our customers to
view the detail of the stones and the jewelry. Some customers
view these photos and assume that the browbands will be
overwhelming. To the contrary, our products are designed
to compliment not overwhelm your horse. Browbands are actually
best viewed on the horse 8-10 feet away. Most of our customers
find the proportions very pleasing once they see the browband
on their horse. If for any reason you feel you have made
the wrong decision, you may return the product to us for
a full refund (as long as it is in new and unused condition
and in its original packaging).
10.
Is your horse boot washable? Yes! Our boot is designed
to be washable in cold water on the delicate setting. We
suggest, however, that you line dry. Most of our customers
report that their boots dry overnight.
11.
My young horse rubs behind, and goes through boots faster
than I can purchase them. If this is the case, please
let us know. We will sew in several layers of exterior protection
at the rub point.
12.
I need XXL horse boots with an extra strap. No problem.
Since we make our boots on the premises, we can design them
to address special needs.
13.
Can I order a matching browband, belt and dog collar?
Yes!
14.
Can you come up with colors and designs to match our
barn or team colors? Yes!
15.
How do I clean my POH product? We find that the use
of window cleaner and a tooth brush works well to clean
the jewelry and the stones. The leather may be cleaned using
ordinary saddle soap. We recommend cleaning a minimum of
once per week for the average rider.
